The three Pakistani cricketers, Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Amir and Salman Butt have been banned from cricket for five years each at least. Apart from that, Asif and Butt have been handed over two and five years of suspended sentence as well.
Many would think that the three have escaped with a light sentence. A very, very light one at that, given that they were, in the end, fixing games. The British police has had enough proof for them to prosecute them in the courts and that means that there would be some kind of an interesting things that they would have had.
It is therefore, a surprise that Mohammad Amir has actually had the audacity to say that it was unfair to be banned for five years for bowling only two no-balls. The point was totally forgotten or probably he hasn’t realised it yet. Either way, it will make sense for the ICC to relook into the bans and increase it further – probably even get it to life bans if possible.
