  • Bowling edge will be the key in Cricket World Cup

    0

It is interesting to see that the teams which have done well so far in the Cricket World Cup tournament are the ones which have a good bowling line-up. and the teams which have not been able to do well are those which are struggling with it.

For example, the Aussies have won two in two, and they have shown how their pace bowling line-up can manage to do a job for the side. Pakistan have won three in three and it has been because of their pace and spin combination in the Cricket World Cup. Afridi’s 14 wickets help of course.

South Africa have two premier fast bowler apart from the unveiling of a third new spinner in Imran Tahir who is a wicket-taking option.

On the other, India and England have poor bowling attacks and that has translated into one tie for India and one tie and a loss for England. India will play Ireland in the next game and the Irish will look to take on the Indian bowling easily.

  • Australia will be a team to look out for

The Aussies may not go in as favourites as they had done in the last Cricket World Cup, but their win over the English side will warn their opposition. It was not only the fact that they won the series but also that they have won them rather convincingly and from every plausible situation.

This includes the latest game in the series at the Sydney Cricket Ground where Australia have managed to chase down 334 that they needed for a win. Going into the Cricket World Cup, Australia would have regained the confidence – after all, they are still the number one side in the world.

Even better would be the fact that the Aussies will have the services of their captain Ricky Ponting for the tournament. Ponting is currently out injured but is said to be recovering rather well.

Then again, the bowling seems to be shaping up rather well. They have Shaun Tait and Brett Lee leading the pace bowling and if they can get their spinning combination right, they could well be a team to look out for.
